A warm welcome to you and your children from the Local Governing Board of Northwick Manor Primary School.
As Chair of Governors it is a privilege to be working as a member of a dedicated team and we are a committed and active body. The purpose of the Governing Board is to work with the school to provide the best possible education for all its pupils, ensuring that the school is held accountable to those it serves. We are responsible for monitoring the performance and effectiveness of our school, for ensuring we are accountable to the Trust financially, and that the ethos and values that Northwick Manor hold dear are driving factors in the continuing success of our school.
As well as fulfilling our duties by both supporting and challenging Miss Williams and her senior leadership team - monitoring progress and activities in school - we also enjoy being involved in day to day events. We are comprised of parents, representatives of the local community and people with relevant skills and professional expertise. We use this experience and knowledge to provide practical support, set the strategic direction of the school and hold the Headteacher to account. You will find further information about who we are further down this page.
Staff and governors work together with the common aim of providing a safe and vibrant learning environment in which all children can reach their potential and have an enjoyable experience in this wonderful school. We are justifiably proud of the children at Northwick Manor and whilst acknowledging our duty as governors to ensure that children receive a quality education, we also recognise that learning does not start and end at the school gate. In a good school such as ours, we are extremely lucky to have parents and carers who take a great deal of interest in their childrens' learning and development and you are very much an integral part of the whole school community. I have been involved with school as a parent since 2008 and joined the governing body as a parent governor in 2015. We have two school-age daughters, the eldest of whom is now in senior school and I therefore have experience of each school year at Northwick Manor from EYFS to Year 6. My professional background is within HR - predominantly within Higher Education - and my experience covers a range of disciplines including recruitment and selection, team management, policy development, appraisal and performance management, report writing and data analysis. I am currently the Chair of the Local Governing Board for Northwick Manor and the lead governor for Leadership & Development and English.
Rev Andy Todd
I have been a governor at Northwick Manor since 2016, following in the footsteps of my predecessor at St Stephen’s church, Revd Stuart Currie (a hard act to follow, as any of you who have heard his Christmas Carol Service jokes will know!). Being a governor has been important to me because the church is there for everyone with an interest in the parish, not just those who think of themselves as churchgoers, and the school is an absolutely key part of the community’s life. Before being ordained as a priest, I was a chartered accountant for some 25 years, and so I have taken on a role among the governors as a finance lead (amongst other things), although I also have plenty of experience of working with and challenging leadership in various professional and voluntary contexts. I have two children, both of whom are now at secondary schools in Worcester.
Dr Emily Breeze
I currently have three children at Northwick Manor (Years 6, 4 and 2) and have had the privilege of being a parent governor at the school since 2016. I am a research scientist and academic tutor at a local University and so have a particular interest in the provision of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) within school. Through my work I am proficient in the analysis and interpretation of data, skills which I am able to apply to my governor lead role for the monitoring of outcomes for pupils. In addition, I have experience in project management, decision-making and the ability to question and provide challenge, when appropriate. As a parent governor I am committed to ensuring the continuing success of my children’s school and maintaining its strong links with parents and the local community.
I have been involved with school as a parent since 2013 and joined the governing body as a parent governor in 2015. We have three children at Northwick Manor, the eldest of whom is in Year 6.
My professional background is predominantly in community development. I have worked alongside a wide range of people in vulnerable circumstances, from setting up social enterprises with the unemployed through to currently working with a national charity who aims to find a home for every child in the UK who needs one, through encouraging people to foster and adopt. Through my work in building sustainable communities, I have spent time working in Central Government departments advising policy makers, to ensure better outcomes on the ground for vulnerable people.
I am currently the lead governor for Pupil Premium and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability).
I am happily married to Sacha with a beautiful 6-year-old daughter. Originally from Chester, I now live in Gloucestershire and have done so for 23 years. I have been involved with Northwick for approximately 5 years working for Creed Foodservice as a Business Development Manager supplying most of the food ingredients for the catering department at the school. I am a chef by trade and I have steadily worked my way up the ladder to higher management with exceptional Business development skills. I’ve worked in Poland for 5 years back in the early nineties opening Bowling Allies and setting up American style diners along with managing two restaurants in Warsaw and Krakow. I moved into sales 6 years ago which led to my involvement with Northwick.
I started work in the old Junior School 20 years ago where I qualified as a Teaching Assistant. After taking on more roles I became School Manager. I then began at Northwick Manor Primary School when it opened. I manage WRAP, the kitchen, office and lunchtime supervisors, caretakers and cleaners. I am responsible for all Health & Safety, first aid, all contracts in school, and lettings. I have a very full and varied role which I love. I still have lots of contact with the children through my various roles. I like working with the huge variety of people that my role requires. No day is ever the same!
I have been involved in education all my life and have recently retired as an assistant head at a successful local secondary school. I am excited about supporting a different educational phase by applying my skills and experience to Northwick Manor Primary and the youngest members of our community. My brief as a community governor at Northwick will be to ensure children are safe, behave well and attend regularly.
My retirement will not only give me time to commit to my role at Northwick, but also spend more time with my grandchildren, travel extensively and learn to play golf. I look forward to meeting all members and partners of Northwick Manor throughout the coming years.
I joined the governing body as a Community Governor in September 2017 following my election as County Councillor for Claines Division earlier in the year. I have also represented Claines Ward on the City Council since May 2015. I have a BEng(Hons) degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Leeds and an MSc in Engineering Business Management from Warwick University. I have worked for the Ministry of Defence, in the NHS and in the commercial sector carrying out a variety of roles, I have also run my own small companies. I am currently the lead governor for Maths (my favourite subject at school) and Early Years Foundation Stage.
