What an amazing two days!  The sun shone and the children had great fun on a variety of activities and competed against each other in the sprints, egg and spoon and obstacle races.  Thank you to Mrs Davies and Mrs Webber for organising yet another slick day and to all the adults who came to support the children.

 

          

 

      

 

       

 

      

 

      

 

                        

 

 

WINNING WARRIORS

 

Congratulations to all the children in Warriors House who won this years inter house challenges to scoop the prize of a visit to the Three Counties Show.

 

      

                     RIVERS C OF E ACADEMY TRUST MUSIC FESTIVAL

 

What a lovely day!

 

Northwick Manor Primary School played host to the Rivers C of E Academy Trust Music Festival.  We could not have asked for a better day, in fact everyone sought out the shade as each school performed a well rehearsed solo piece and collective songs.

 

Thank you to all the staff who had obviously put a lot of effort into ensuring each school delivered a happy, entertaining and professional rendition of songs and poetry.

 

 

      

 

        

SUMMER FAYRE

A massive 'thank you' to everyone who supported this years event to make it the most successful Summer Fayre for Northwick Manor ever!!!!  The new Friday after school format worked well and we were so lucky with the weather.  So many generous individuals, companies and organisations gave time and goods and we are very appreciative, as it undoubtedly made the Fayre the success it was.

KS1 SCIENCE WORKSHOPS

 

Family members of the KS1 children enjoyed sharing  science lesson workshops today. Activities ranged from finding and identifying mini beasts, camouflage colours, food chains, sorting animals in a variety of categories, floating and sinking, sound and speed, plant labeling, leaf hunt, sorting edible and non edible food, to name but a few!!! 

 

      

 

      

 

      

 

       

 

                              

 

KS2 SCIENCE WORKSHOPS

 

Family members joined the children for their science workshops today.  They were involved in a variety of activities ranging from understanding and making a volcano and creating a chemical reaction to simulate a volcanic eruption, chromatography and light, making colour wheels and the bird in the cage optical illusion, human bodies reaction time in relation to the senses and plant identification, environmental comparisons and data recording. 

 

      

 

                   

 

      

 

                                                

 

Governors Visit

 

Today our Governors were welcomed into school.   They observed lots of learning in all of the year groups. It was an opportunity for them to have a better understanding of how we use assessment to enhance pupils learning on an individual basis. The children were, without exception, polite, courteous, welcoming, happy and able to talk in detail about their learning.  

The Governors said, 'it was a privilege to spend time in our school'.

 

      

 

Hand Writing Parent Workshops

 

Following the handwriting presentation given by Mr Harris on the 17th January parents were invited into school to observe the children 'learning in action'.

 

Various skills were practised, from funky fingers through to horizontal joins.

More Able Gifted and Talented Artist Workshop at RGS

 

In January four of our year five talented artists went to the Royal Grammar School to take part in an art workshop. They had an amazing morning exploring the use of colour and created a wonderful art piece to bring back to school. It was a very sociable morning as they were able to meet artists from other schools and make friends as well as improving their art skills.

 

                                      

 

                            

 

 Rivers Multi Academy Trust Art project

 

Children from across the Rivers MAT have been designing their own individual masterpieces that have been combined together to make one giant piece of art work based on the theme of 'British Values'.  Pupils were tasked with designing  and creating the piece of art that is displayed at the Hive in Worcester.  Some of our Year 6 children from Northwick worked on a part of the artwork based on the theme of 'Friendship'.  They entered a competition creating designs that could be used.  As you can see we have some very gifted and talented Year 6 pupils who came up with some brilliant ideas to use in our final piece.  They showed perseverance, resilience and teamwork in order to complete the project.

CHRISTMAS AT NORTHWICK MANOR PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

                                              

 

      

 

The last few days have been filled with Christmas themed activities in the classroom, Christmas lunches, parties and discos.  The staff also said goodbye to Miss McGann who has served the school for 25 years.  Thank you Miss McGann, we all send our best wishes to you on your next adventure.

 

                                                 

 

CHRISTMAS CAROL SERVICE

 

The children and families of Northwick Manor Primary held their Carol Service in Worcester Cathedral on Wednesday 7th December.  We were very proud of the fabulous singing, our soloists, musicians and readers.  It was a lovely way to start the Christmas Festivities.  Many thanks to Worcester Cathedral for allowing us to use the beautiful building and all the members of staff who ensured the performance was 'pitch perfect'. 

 

                                                  

 

RETURN VISIT FROM FORMER NORTHWICK PUPILS

We were delighted to welcome back of group of children who joined RGS last year.  They gave a presentation in the school assembly.  They told the children what they had been up to since leaving Northwick and the opportunities and activities you can become involved in when you get older.  It was lovely to see them again. 

                                                  

 

GOOGLE CARDBOARD

 

We were very lucky to secure a visit from a Google representative with 60 smart phones and Google Cardboard kits to enable the KS2 children an opportunity to experience their virtual reality platform.  We were advised that due to eye/brain development in KS1 children, this technology is not recommended. 

 

Judging by the squeals and shrieks the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  They ventured into a variety of 3D 360 degree destinations.  From shark infested reefs, Egyptian pyramids, moon walks, Machu Picchu to the top of Mount Everest every child was totally absorbed in the virtual world.

CHILDREN IN NEED

 

This morning Pudsey appeared out of the mist to visit the children and to say thank you for the money the school had raised.  The children had adopted a pirate theme for the day and were interviewed by BBC Hereford & Worcester and will be appearing on the radio's Facebook page.

 

      

 

      

 

             

 

 

MATHS PARENT WORKSHOPS

 

Parents and carers joined the children at the recent workshops which were related to Maths in action.  Children enjoyed sharing their knowledge and applying their number skills in a range of activities.  We were so lucky with the weather!

 

        

 

        

 

                           

 

         

 

         

 

         

 

         

 

               

 

HARVEST FESTIVAL

 

                             

 

                                 

 

The whole school walked down to St Stephen's church to celebrate Harvest Festival.  The children sang a mix of traditional and modern songs.  The service was led by Reverend Todd who thanked the children for their generous food gifts which will  be donated to our local food bank.  Thank you to all the adults who volunteered to  walked with the children to keep them safe, it is very much appreciated.

EUROPEAN LANGUAGES DAY

 

A huge thank you for all of your support for our European Day of Languages. The children (and staff) looked fabulous in their costumes, we had lots of fun during the day taking part in European activities. We also have had lots of photos sent in of the delicious pasteis de nata baked at home.

A Fond Farewell and a Huge 'Thank You'

 

We wish to say a huge 'thank you' to the Reverend Canon Dr Stuart Currie and Mrs Rhona Humphries for the wonderful support, wisdom and guidance they have given the school, over many years serving on our Governing Body.

 

Reverend Canon Dr Stuart Currie will also be leaving our parish church of St. Stephen’s to take up a new and exciting role as Chaplain to the Bishop of Worcester.
