AUTUMN TERM

SUMMER TERM

A highlight of the term was our trip to Malvern Outdoor Elements.  Having negotiated the tricky procedure of making our own beds we were then involved, day and evening, in an array of activities that encouraged us to be team players, and highlighted our schools 7 'R's - Risk Taking, Responsibility, Resilience, Readiness to Learn, Resourcefulness, Relationships and Reflectiveness.

This term we have been studying India which has had many cross curricula links.  We have studied in depth the geography, religions and culture.  During multi cultural week we had an opportunity to use Dohl drums, sample Indian cuisine and attended an Indian Dance Class, mehndi hand painting and much more.

In Art and DT we have designed our own Butus and then using a tie die technique produced fabulous wall hangings.

We have studied the human body concentrating on the digestive system and looking at food chains.

SPRING TERM

We have had a wonderful time studying our cross curricula topic imaginary worlds which culminated with the fabulous DT project in which children created their own dioramas   Thank you to all parent/carers for supporting this project, all of the work was innovative and skilfully presented sadly we can only put a small selection on the website.

Our term of swimming finished with a gala where children were able to demonstrate their developing skills.

4PH gave an outstanding cello performance, the remaining classes will be tutored in cello and clarinet next term.

We have started out Egyptian topic.  Mrs Cadle came into school to enthral us with life in those times.  We and enjoyed learning about Howard Carters famous discovery and spent a day enacting and understanding the role of an archaeologist.

AUTUMN TERM

This term we have been studying the fascinating topic of Tudor Kings and Queens.  Mr Cadle came into school to regale us with funny quips and many interesting facts and artefacts.  We visited Harvington Hall, learnt a Tudor dance, and peered down priest holes.  In literacy we are creating a  Tudor Magazine with period gossip columns, quizzes, problem pages and much more!!!!

We have a studied the Wreck of the Zanzibar by Michael Morpurgo in literacy and linked this into our art work and also considered the physical geography of the British Isles, focusing on the Silly Isles where the story was set.

In computing we have been using logo to hone our programming skills and have created repeating patterns using various shapes.

In science we have looked at changing states such as melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation.

We are looking forward to undertaking some cookery nearer Christmas.
