History
At Northwick Manor Primary School, the aim of our history curriculum is to inspire curiosity and develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Through engaging and well-sequenced learning, we seek to nurture a love of history and an appreciation of how the past has shaped the present.
By combining historical skills and knowledge, pupils are enabled to act and think as historians — asking perceptive questions, weighing evidence, and critically reflecting to draw informed conclusions. Our curriculum equips children with the tools to interpret and evaluate sources, consider different perspectives, and develop a sense of chronology.
Pupils will build and refine their methods of historical enquiry, deepening their understanding of how changes over time have influenced people’s lives locally, nationally, and globally. In doing so, they develop respect for the diversity of human experience and recognise the significance of history in shaping the world they live in today.
