YEAR 3 ACADEMIC YEAR 2016-2017

SUMMER TERM

SPRING TERM

Our focus this term has been studying a fascinating period in history from the Celts to the Romans.

The research we have carried out has been used to write a non-fiction information sheets on Stone Age man and recreated the hunt story telling picture art found in caves from this time.

There has been some fabulous descriptive work on posters advertising for the position as a Roman Soldier.  Not sure the job was as glamorous as the children made it sound!!

Mr Cadle joined us for one of his inspirational talks on the tools, weapons, and clothing during these ages and the children had the opportunity to handle a number of artifacts. We also looked closely at the design and use of a Celtic Round House.

In Forest Schools we learnt one of man’s most important skills, of making fire.

Our recorder skills in playing Hot Cross Buns are improving!!! We have also begun to read notation and have started writing onto manuscript.

AUTUMN TERM

We have studied world climates this term.  Hurricane Matthew was the 'perfectly timed storm' as we were able to see the effects of this type of weather as it happened.

Autumn Art Work

We have studied the text of Little Wolf's Book of Badness.  We have created a Class magazine and studied wolves around the world and how they have maintained their bad reputation.  Children created models and made a 3D map of his adventures.

In science we have been finding out how a healthy living lifestyle ensures our bodies can grow and move.  We have thought about exercise and food and children produced some fantastic home showing how they achieved the best possible outcomes for their bodies.
